About
My name is Francie Cohen and I am the founder, creator, and editor of Divinity.
During high school at the University School of Milwaukee, a women’s health class sparked my initial idea for Divinity. I was deeply impacted by the stories and challenges that women face—many of which go unnoticed or unheard. The class opened my eyes to the silent burdens women carry, leaving me both shocked and inspired. As I filled two journals with notes and reflections, I began envisioning a platform where these stories could be shared—a space to amplify women’s voices and provide young girls with knowledge and empowerment.
Now, as a senior at The New School studying Culture and Media, Journalism, and Fine Arts, my passion for women’s culture has only deepened. My academic experiences have made me realize the urgent need for more media focused on women’s perspectives, driving me to bring Divinity to life.
This is Divinity, a media space where women and nonbinary individuals can share their stories without fear of criticism or punishment. Every woman has a story—whether good or bad—and it deserves to be told. These traumas and challenges need to be shared so that others can relate because we all know too well how often they’re hidden from society. Through this platform, women’s advice and experiences can help us grow as a community.
In this debut issue, you'll find a rich collection of art and writing that reflects the unique experiences of our contributors. Moving forward in Divinity, I hope to explore more topics that dive more deeply with women and nonbinary individuals: culture, health, politics, queerness, spirituality, love, gender, fashion, wellness, and music. Through these lenses, I hope to offer perspectives that challenge the patriarchal status quo, fostering hope and optimism for change.
Your support is essential as we embark on this journey. By engaging with Divinity, you're helping to create a space for these important conversations. I also invite you to contribute to future issues—your voice and art are central to this dialogue.
Welcome to Divinity.
